Montreal Boroughs and Neighbourhoods
Montreal has 19 Boroughs within the metropolitan area – of which, numerous neighbourhoods are included in each.
The 19 Montreal Boroughs include:
1. Ahuntsic-Cartierville
2. Anjou
3. Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
4. Lachine
5. LaSalle
6. Le Plateau-Mont-Royal – the largest neighborhood within this borough is, not surprisingly, the Plateau. This area appeals to many artists. Mile End is located in the north western part of the Plateau Mont-Royal and has traditionally been a multicultural area of the city. The McGill Ghetto neighborhood is located in the far south western part of Montreal, and is home to the aptly named McGill University.
7. Le Sud-Ouest – Popular neighbourhoods include Griffintown, Goose Village, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Saint-Henri and Little Burgundy.
8. L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève
9. Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is home to the Olympic Stadium.
10. Montréal-Nord
11. Outremont
12. Pierrefonds-Roxboro
13. Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles
14. Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie – is home to Little Italy
15. Saint-Laurent
16. Saint Leonard
17. Verdun
18. Ville-Marie – home to the most neighborhoods including the historic district of Old Montreal, the Gay Village, the Latin Quarter, Chinatown, the popular Quartier International and Cité Multimédia, the Quartier des Spectacles, the Golden Square Mile neighbourhood at the foot of Mount Royal and the Shaughnessy Village/Quartier Concordia (which is located close to Concordia University), and includes the bulk of the area in the following Mount Royal Park, Saint Helen’s Island, and Île Notre-Dame.
